Edward Lewis, who by a first wife was the father of Thomas Lewis, (aged 23 in 1623), recorded in a patent of Hannah Boyse, Nov., 1635, concerning land of her mother Alice Edlowe; 200 ac. for transportation of servants, viz.: “Thomas Lewis, Robert Hollum, Joseph Royall, Edward Holland, and Oliver Allen”. (Virginia Magazine, v., p. 97). By Edward Lewis, Jane Langford had issue: William Lewis, who m. (Aug. 21, 1634), Anne Lutley, of Burwarton (dau. of Robert Lutley and Mary Holland), having issue: Edward Lewis, probable father of William Lewis, bapt. March 16, 1661, in Diddlebury, who m. Elizabeth, dau. of Robert Woodson, Sr. of Henrico Co., who was a patentee of 450 ac., with Richard Farris, Giles Carter, William Harris (son of Major William Harris), and Roger Cummings, on “White Oak Swamp”. Roger Holland was probably a younger son of Thomas Holland and Alice Cocke, second-cousin of Richard Cocke of Bremo (whose son was another “friend” of Major William Harris), and uncle of Alice Holland, who m., in 1632, Thomas Harris, Esq., of Prescot, first-cousin of John and Thomas Harris.

(Aug. 21, 1634), Anne Lutley, of Burwarton (dau. of Robert Lutley and Mary Holland), having issue: Edward Lewis, probable father of William Lewis, bapt. March 16, 1661, in Diddlebury, who m. April 3, 1625, in Ludlow. John Baldwin was a descendant of Charles Baldwyn, of Stokesay Castle (b. 1593), who m. (1617) a sister of Mary Holland, dau. of Francis Holland of Burwarton (fl. 1606) and Thomasine Cressett, sister of Elizabeth Cressett, wife of Adam Lutley, whose sister, Joyce Lutley, m. In 1689, Mary (Harris) Ligon gave a deposition stating her age to be 64. “John Woodson, Sr. of Henrico Co. to Edward Lester, land next to Richard Cocke, next to land formerly William Harris’s on Curles Swamp. She m.Thomas Ligon. Mary Harris was the second-cousin of Mary Harris, who m. (in 1673, as second wife), Fleetwood Dormer, b. May 21, 1616, cousin of Henry Isham, who resided at Bermuda Hundred, Henrico Co. (who m. Katherine Banks, relict of Joseph Royall); their issue included Mary Isham, who m. Col. William Randolph, named as a “friend” in the Will of Major William Harris. Fleetwood Dormer’s first wife was, Katherine Ligon, second-cousin of Thomas Ligon, whose son and namesake m. Mary Harris. Col. William Randolph was the son of Henry Randolph, who, with Joseph Tanner and Henry Isham, witnessed the Will of Richard Cocke, Sr., dated Oct. 4, 1663, whose son, Thomas was also named as a “friend” in the Will of Major William Harris.

Peter Harris of historical record is not recorded as a younger son of Arthur Harris, but falls into the category of a ‘known unknown’, in that he and his decendant’s associations exactly match those of his probable cousins, which was the norm for those closely related.
1.3.2.1. Peter Harris m. Mary, dau. of Lt. Colonel John Smith, of Turkey Island, and sister of Lt. Obadiah Smith, Sr. who m. Mary (d. June 3, 1753), dau. of William Cocke of Malvern Hills, Henrico, son of Richard Cocke, of Bremo, and br. of *Thomas Cocke, named as a friend in he Will of Major William Harris. Mary Smith was the half-sister of Anne Smith, wife of Richard Woodson, son Col. Robert Woodson, and br. of of Elizabeth Lewis.

1.1. Richard Hudson, b. March 2, 1659, in Henrico Co.; moved to Amelia Co.; 21 years old on May 25, 1681. Dec. 1, 1688: ‘I Richard Hudson, son and heir of Richard Hudson, decd. late of Roxdale in Henrico Co. state that the will of my father, dated Oct. 25, 1669, gave to my two brothers Robert and William Hudson, a plantation at Roxdale: “My will is that land given me by my (grand) father Bowman be devised between my three sons … I therefore for 1600 lbs of tobacco sell to my brother Robert Hudson my share in said land. Wit: Thomas Cock,* Wm. Cock Jr. S: Richard Hudson. Mary, wife of Richard, relinquished her dower right, p. 29-30. *Thomas Cocke was mentioned as “friend” in the Will of Major William Harris, br. of Mary (Harris) Ligon.*
1.2. Robert Hudson, b. in 1662 (19 years old on May 25, 1681), m. Martha. He d. Jan. 25, 1757. Feb. 1, 1712: Nuncupative Will of *Mary Ligon: “Martha Hudson to have charge of daughter Martha“. Wit: James Cox (Cocke), Edward Heathcott, and Martha Hudson, p. 138. Varina Parish, 1685: Richard Hudson and Robert Hudson, two of the orphans of Richard Hudson, decd., being at lawful age do appear and in open court acknowledge that they have each of them received their full estate of their guardian Tho. Pouldon and there therewith fully satisfied; upon which the said Pouldon is by the court released, acquitted, and discharged from the estate to the said two orphans belonging (Orphans’ Court Book 16). Varina Parish, Aug. 20, 1685: Tho. Pouldon, guardian to the orphans of Richard Hudson, decd., his security being dead, he is ordered to provide a new security, on which in Open Court Philemon Childers enters himself security for the estate of the said orphans belonging (Orphans’ Court Book 15).
Nov. 2, 1707: William Byrd of Charles City Co., esq., to Robert Hudson of Henrico Co. planter, for £250, 46 ac. near a place called Rocksdale, where said Hudson lives. Wit: Wm Randolph,* Rene Laforce, William Randolph, Jr. Thomas Eldridge. Rec. Dec. 1, 1707, p. 68. *William Randolph (mentioned as “friend” in the Will of Major William Harris), son of Henry Randolph, who, with Joseph Tanner and Henry Isham, witnessed the Will of Richard Cocke, Sr., dated Oct. 4, 1663.
