Edward Rogers came to Virginia in 1623, on “the Anne”, with William Gallaway. James Barron of U.P. sells Andrew Woodley for 7000 lbs tbco 640 acres formerly granted Anthony Mathews, Feb 1, 1664 and by him conveyed to James Barron by Will May 6, 1681. Possession of this given to Andrew Woodley in presence of Jno Portis, Sr., Jane Portis, Thos. Davis, John Giles, John Turner (Bodie).
The general picture is extremely simple, families that intermarried within the Bristol basin area of England continued their associations in Virginia, intermarrying with those they knew.
