1.1.1. Daniel Bassano. He acquired extensive holdings in Sussex: ‘Bargain and sale enrolled and covenant to levy a fine for £900. Thomas Stanley of West Peckham in Kent, esq and William Stanley of the Middle Temple, gent, to Richard Shepharde of Peasmarsh, esq. 120a of land in Peasmarsh, occupied by Francis Sampson, yeoman, under a former lease to George Sampson TS and his wife Mary and WS and his wife Ann to levy a fine to RS. Acknowledged before John Page, master in chancery, and enrolled by Edward Cantrell’ (DUN 30/10. 10 Feb 1648).

1.1.1.1.1. Noel Bassano, witnessed the Will of Thomas Grendon. He here refers to his nephew, … Painter, ‘the lost sheepe being now found or rather taken  must be speedily disposed of or else he will certainly come to the gallows … after noe little trouble we have at last disposed of my Brother Painter’s untoward sonn, he is consigned to a verry Eminent Merchant in Virginia’ (Mr. Grendon). With account of moneys disbursed, including repayment of money stolen. D-X464/3/9. 8 Aug. 1682. Noel Bassano had Shropshire associations through his family’s intermarriage to the Whittons, and theirs to the Lutrells (and theirs to the Holland/Cocke/Harris/Langford families): Bassano v Whitton. Many of the Bassanos were interred in Church of England parish churches, St Leonard, Shoreditch, as an example, but, although they may have attended Protestant services, this had been a camouflage: Nowell Bassano was confirmed a trustee of the first Synagogue on Creechurch Lane on 28 Jan. 1686. Mentioned in the Wills of his father, dated July 14, 1623, and son John, 1654 (signed pedigree in 1633).

1.1. Thomas was in possession of his father’s grist mill, 1674-5, left three daughters, as shown by a March 4, 1728 deed from Elizabeth Lanier (wife of John Lanier) which conveyed to Richard Jones and his wife Tabitha, ‘daughter of Thomas Bird, who by his will dated January 21, 1680, devised land to his three daughters, Mary, now deceased, and Elizabeth and Tabitha, 300 acres on the South Branch of Upper Chippokes Creek, Surry County, VA.

1.1.1.1. Bird Thomas Lanier, he was appointed by Brunswick Co. court to serve as overseer for a new road to Shining Creek. He was made Constable. On 1/2/1737 got a land warrant for 312 acres on south side of Great Creek in Brunswick Co.; sold this land in 1739.
